Dr. Rajesh Raveendranathan

Dr Rajesh Raveendranathan (Dr Raj Rav) is an experienced General Dentist with over 25 years of clinical experience, specializing in functional dentistry, neuromuscular dentistry, craniofacial pain management, and dental sleep medicine. He focuses on understanding the relationship between teeth, jaw function, muscles, airway, and overall oral health to provide comprehensive and personalised dental care. 

He completed his Bachelor of Dental Surgery from Rajas Dental College, affiliated with Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University, Chennai, India. He has pursued extensive international training in advanced dental sciences, including Neuromuscular Orthodontics from the International College of Neuromuscular Orthodontics and Gnathology (Italy), Dental Sleep Medicine residency training at Tufts University, Boston, USA, and a PhD from Ecole Superieure, University of Sorbonne, France, focusing on Sleep Bruxism.  

Dr Raj is a Fellow and Master of the International College of Cranio Mandibular Orthopedics (ICCMO), Fellow of the American Association of Craniofacial Pain (FAACP), and a member of the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine (AADSM). He also holds international leadership roles, including International Secretary of ICCMO and President of the ICCMO India Section.  

With extensive experience in functional dentistry, Dr Raj focuses on managing complex dental concerns related to jaw function, bite balance, TMJ discomfort, sleep-related dental conditions, and bruxism. He is recognised for introducing advanced neuromuscular dentistry concepts in South Asia and pioneered the use of technologies such as ULF TENS and mandibular tracking systems for functional dental assessment.  

Dr Raj has also contributed significantly to dental education and professional development worldwide. He founded the Department of Neuromuscular Dentistry at Kantipur Dental College, Nepal, and continues to contribute through research, clinical mentorship, and advanced dental training programmes.  

Known for his holistic approach to dentistry, Dr Raj believes that dental care extends beyond treating teeth alone. His treatment philosophy focuses on improving comfort, function, and quality of life through personalised, evidence-based dental solutions.
